How does Openpay work?

Creating an Openpay account is a simple process that will only take a few moments.
The first step is to sign up for the service. This can be done by downloading the Openpay app from the App Store or Google Play Store. Once this is done, you can register your basic information via the app and link your Openpay account to your credit or debit card.
The approval process typically takes just a few minutes. Openpay will respond instantly to your application and once it is approved, you can use Openpay right away.
Creating your Openpay account can be done in advance, or you can sign up in-store at the time of collecting your car, after the service is complete.
To pay for your car service via Openpay, you will need to choose Openpay as the payment option. You then select a repayment option using the app. Repayments are automatically deducted from your nominated credit or debit account. This occurs on a fortnightly basis, as agreed upon and scheduled by you. You also have the option of making an early payment through the Openpay app.
For additional information, you can visit the Openpay site.

Why are regular car services important?

Keeping your car in good mechanical condition is important to avoid it becoming a safety issue, due to a lack of maintenance.
When your car is regularly serviced, you can feel confident that it’s performing at its best. Regular and thorough servicing is also a good way to avoid more costly repairs further down the track, as minor problems left unfixed can lead to major repairs.

What are the benefits of having my car regularly serviced?

A car that is regularly serviced will have a longer, more economical service life. The benefits of a regularly serviced car include:
  • Extended engine life
  • Reduced fuel consumption
  • Increased car safety
  • Prevention of the wearing of moving parts
  • Maintaining road-worthiness
Regular servicing can also provide you with an early indication to potentially major problems with the engine and transmission. This can enable you to deal with the issue before it becomes a bigger and potentially more costly issue.
Finally, having a complete service history of your car will improve the resale value when the time comes.

How often does my car need servicing?

Your car’s manufacturer will typically specify the maximum time and maximum distance intervals between each service. This is usually around every 6 months or 10,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
You can find the manufacturer’s recommendations in your car logbook. You may find that the logbook also lists some basic maintenance that you can complete yourself, as well as when various parts should be replaced.
Regardless of how often your car is in use, regular servicing is a necessary expense to ensure your safety on the roads.
