Ensure that your AC (air conditioning) system is in prime condition to stay cool and save on fuel.
Manufacturers recommend that your vehicle’s AC system is serviced every two years. This ensures that it remains in top working order all year round. BestDrive has authorised technicians who can service your AC system and re-gas it as required.
The AC system in your vehicle works to keep you and your passengers cool in the warmer months, remove humidity from the cabin and demist a foggy windscreen in cooler weather.
A vehicle’s AC system generally has two modes. These are ‘fresh air’ mode and ‘air recirculation’ mode. The fresh air mode draws heat from fresh air outside of the vehicle, prior to introducing it to the inside of the cabin, whilst the air recirculation mode circulates existing air from inside the passenger area of the vehicle. Air recirculation mode does not allow air from outside of the vehicle to enter.
Regular servicing of your vehicle’s AC system will ensure your comfort, and can even save you money in the long term. A well serviced AC system requires less fuel to operate. When there is a leak in your AC system, it begins to work harder, which increases the amount of fuel used.
AC systems are susceptible to leaks, which results in a gradual deterioration in the performance of your vehicle’s AC system. AC gases are prone to escaping over a period of time - engine vibrations and temperature changes cause pipes to move and the rubber rings expand and contract, which enables this leaking. This kind of leakage is more likely to occur in winter, when the AC system is rarely used, allowing the O-ring seals to dry out.
If you’ve noticed that your AC system is failing to effectively cool the passenger area of your vehicle, or you can’t recall when you last had your AC system serviced, call the experts at your local BestDrive store to arrange a service. Our qualified technicians can perform a series of checks, repairs and replacements, as required, to ensure that the AC system in your vehicle is running effectively, keeping you both cool and comfortable.
